Thanks everyone – all I can say is how grateful I am for the kind of friends who can make such a day possible. Thanks Pia and FB!! And I would definitely recommend a boat trip on the canals as a real slice of Amsterdam, and a wonderful way to see a different perspective on the city.

you’re right, zoë! these quotes sent me right back to when i was a teenager. in summer, we always messed around on the fjord that i lived by in norway. we just used a rowing boat and splashed aimlessly about – and no safety vests…
