a parting word from down under.

Well this is it guys, French Boy and I are heading back to ‘the mainland’. It’s a strange feeling to be leaving home for home, both being as sweet as each other. But departing from this land does always leave a tiny hole in my heart each time and somehow, it never gets easier.

Before I go though, I wanted to leave you with this little piece you see below. Yes, it’s a new medium for me on the blog because I just discovered that my G10 (you read right, I finally got myself a powershot! It’s so much lighter!) also takes video and I snapped this spontaneous piece a few hours ago just before dusk. This pretty much sums up what Sydney feels like for both a newcomer and an oldtimer. I do hope you enjoy, mes amis

a spray of teeny tiny shells…
Posted in nature, pia's photos January 16th, 2009 by piablog

boy oh boy does time fly ’round these sunny parts! our four weeks of sydney living are coming to an end and I am a busy bee collecting things from home to take home. and these little beauties will no doubt find their way into petits nooks & crannies in my suitcase.

xx

PS I’ve been so creative while here, I have bundles and bundles of things to share with you! are you sick of me telling you that yet?

PPS I feel like doodling all over these pretty shells – I can see a whole world in there, but I shall have to wait until I get back to my pen tablet. what do these shells inspire in you?

i’m in sydney but i’m thinking of…

I took this photograph in my old paris apartment – remember the writing on the windows in the guitar studio/second bedroom? (This might jog your memory) Well this photo is looking through that glass window out onto the lovely Haussmann building opposite. I wrote “Paris” on the window and took the photo at dusk.

xx

fancy a cup of tea with me?

a collection of props
Posted in behind the scenes, pia's photos, recent work January 13th, 2009 by piablog

I snapped this quick behind-the-scenes photograph while I was working on a shoot a few weeks ago in Amsterdam – this is the collection of props I had gathered for the shoot and I just love the colours and the light coming through onto the props table from the window behind. In a few weeks the magazine will be out and I can show you what props I chose and how it all turned out in the end. I had a ball on this shoot, working with my favourite people!

xx

PS I will be back to my home away from home next week. It’s been a hectic time back in Sydney, but I have lots to show + tell, including some funny stories, some not so funny stories, some interesting experiences and some beautiful places that I have been able to take French Boy to. We have recorded some soundscapes for you too! Please forgive me for not being able to reply to emails and comments lately – I will be back on track soon px

a little tucked away treasure…
Posted in nature, paris, pia's photos January 9th, 2009 by piablog

It’s only a piece of baker’s twine but it just looked so pretty tied to this tiny branch, hidden from the world. I felt like I’d found a secret treasure in the heart of the Jardin Des Plantes… I imagined once upon a time it had a love note attached to it – wouldn’t that make your heart sing if you found it?

a little treat from a fabulous parisian artist…

The other day I received a rather gorgeous email wishing me a happy new year. It came from Parisian artist, Hélène Manche. Hélène’s work is whimsical and so much fun – I’m completely in love with her mobiles and gorgeous textile installations, and could happily play in her world all day. Click on PLAY above to get a glimpse of how clever this French lass is… what a wonderful way to ring in the new year! Be sure to check out Hélène’s work on her website and blog, it’s full of fabulousness.

xx

PS I will be showing you more of Hélène’s work this year and will even take you for a private little peek into her Paris studio. Didn’t I tell you this year in the (blog)house was going to be full of the good stuff?!
